Ford New Holland 1715 need parts

My mechanic suggests I need to replace my hydraulic pump and my power steering cylinder. The total cost of those parts is over $1000 including sales tax. I cannot seem to find used parts, and the online market price for these parts does not appear to be any better than what my local dealership priced No one seems to offer rebuild kits for the pump, either. Any suggestions?

Any reason your mechanic does not entertain overhauling the hyd pump? what is wrong with the pump?

Without knowing any more than what I can read in your post, I respectfully suggest your mechanic hasn't done a good job of troubleshooting, especially if he is chasing only a steering problem. Your steering cylinder can be repacked for under $100 or under $50 in parts depending on which cylinder you have. If the cylinder doesn't have obvious damage, repacking it will likely make it as new.

If he hasn't done a proper flow and pressure test on the pump or torn it down and visually inspected the components, replacing it may be a waste of money as well.

you need to give a little more info on what your problem is. Both of thes items are easily rebuilt however either or neither of these could be the problem. If you have a service manual it will tell you how to test them. If you dont, get one. It will pay for itself on this repair.

why not take it to a New Holland DEALERSHIP SHOP and get it fix for under $400.00
