Hello,
Has anyone ever changed the injector seals on a 4600 series 3 cylinder diesel? The torque spec lists 17 ft/lbs on the two 5/16-18 bolts holding down the injectors but 17 ft/lbs is about max torque for these grade 5 bolts before failure. I have them cranked down to 16 ft/lbs but it feels that they are just about "at the point of dare no further". The seals are thick cork type rings and I can hear and feel cylinder compression blowing through them when cranking. I was thinking of sealing them with RTV, but has anyone dealt with these type of gaskets? Seems like a poor design. Thanks
