I just got the tractor in the title, and it's got a 7209 loader on it. I just replaced the 4 hoses coming off the control box as they were all leaking. I took care to change them one at a time and have added 5 gallons of utf so far, with no response from the loader and nothing on the dipstick. The loader was working before I replaced the hoses, and it didn't look like there was 5 gallons of oil in them. Is there a sight plug to check for fluid that I haven't found?
thanks in advance.

Are you filling behind the seat and checking the dipstick by the rear axle housing? Those would be the fill and check points for the hydraulics. The fill and dipstick on the transmission are strictly for the transmission which is separate and isolated from the rear axle housing.

After you're sure the rear axle oil level is correct on the dipstick see if your supply oil to your joystick valve comes from one of your remote quick connects. If it is set up this way the lever that controls that set of remotes must be held on. I've got a 5030 with a 7410 loader and that's how the loader oil is supplied. I've inadvertently released the bungee that holds my remote valve lever on and cut the supply to the loader. Also kinda sounds like it was low on oil before you changed the hoses , can't believe you would of lost over 5 gallons.

Yes I am . I have a copy of the manual for the loader.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the remotes next time I'm over there.
The hoses were leaking pretty bad, but the loader was working well enough to drive the tractor over to the shop.

Could be air in the loader, there are a few ways to get that out but I have had luck just holding the levers until fluid flow overtakes airspace and eventually it works itself out.

I tried that for a few minutes. How long do you do it for?

I didn't time it but it didn't take more than a minute. When I changed both hydraulic filters on my tractor not long ago same story, no hydraulics for a few seconds then working great.

Thanks.
I held them down for much longer than that. A friend with the same loader advised me to crack the lines to let the air out.

That is the other way to do it, I haven't had to do that luckily.
