Ford Powermaster

I was riding home from work two days ago and found this Ford Powermsater for sale. I figured if I did not act on it, I would regret it and it would not be for sale long. I have been trying to find one of these that were in good shape for quite a while now. This is the first time I did not have to drive 2 to 3 hours away to get a tractor. I am extremely happy with this find and looking forward to years of use from this quality machine. I think I am building an addiction to these older tractors.

I do know that the Ford 801 Powermaster is a big step up in power from an 8N. We had an 8N on the farm for years and then Dad traded it for an 801. Was hard to get used to the high revving 801 and usually ran it at a lower RPM for fear that it would "blow up". Never did.

Edit: Now after all these years and doing a little of reading just now, I'm more confused than ever having discovered the "801 Powermaster" is a series of Ford tractors rather than a model number.

As a boy, 50 + years ago, I spent many an day plowing in winter with a diesel powermaster and a Ford 2 bottom rollover plow. Ours was probably the 861 as it had live PTO and 5 speed transmission with remote hydraulics. One tough and durable tractor. That is one sweet looking tractor you have there. Enjoy! W.Jones
