Ford 1720
Hello I need help. I have a Ford 1720 1200hr. I just got it . Today I tried PTO first time. It grinds when try engage it. I did adjust clutch when I first got it because didn't like the way pedal felt . That being said does that have something do with it ?
How the proper way to adjust clutch ?

Welcome to the forum. I was a newbie owner 5 years ago and between reading and doing, I have learned a lot.
I have a 1715 Ford and all I do is make sure there is at least an inch of free travel at the top of the pedal. I don't know how different the two machines are, mine is basically the stripped down economy version, yours may have a live PTO with a two stage clutch. [Quoted from another site]: "A live PTO, normally, has a 2 stage clutch. You can depress the clutch 1/2 way in and the transmission will stop but the PTO will continue to spin under a load (not just free spin). If you depress the clutch all the way the PTO will stop also. This is very useful when mowing because you can stop, change gears, back up, etc while the mower continues to receive power." I hope this helps, or somebody with knowledge of your machine chimes in.

Welcome to TBN
After viewing Ford 1720 parts catalog it appears to have dual stage clutch plates. My guess is pto clutch is stuck to pressure plate due to lack of recent use of pto. I suggest to acquire & attach to tractor a pto post hole digger. Then dig some post holes with clutch pedal depressed in hope clutch plate will free from PP.

Only other alternative is a split and replacement of the clutch. Hope you got it for cheap 'cause you'll be putting some jack in it now.

Is a two stage clutch like this supposed to start move tractor near top? After adjustment pto works great. And goes in gear good but ,it don't start to move until more on top side

I've not operated a two stage clutch, but I would think it would be in the top half of pedal travel before the tractor would move, just make sure there is about an inch of free travel at the top of pedal travel and the clutch doesn't slip under load.
