Ford PTO

The PTO on my 1967 Ford 5000 will not engage when the machine is hot. It is fine when I first start, but the longer I run it the higher the RPMs must be before the PTO engages. Eventually it will not engage at all. Someone suggested it might be clogged screens in the case, but I don't have a manual that shows how to check or change them.

time pre a pressure check on the pto clutch pack valve.

oh.. and time to get a service manual.. parts manual be nice too.

could be anything from the low pressure side of the hyd. pump then the pto control valve, then the support for the pto clutch pack then the pto clutch pack

i see this is your first post. let me give you some advice that will help you get the info you need.

instead of finding a 2 year old dead psot and tagging a 1 line post one there with little info. you will get more help starting yuor very own thread, giving details about the machine, what it did, what you did, etc.

more info the better... and the new post is better than tagging on someone else's post..
