Hello folks. I am looking at buying a 5045e in the near future. I was speaking with an independent repair guy here who said to stay away from the foreign made deere's because the future of parts availability was uncertain. He seemed rather biased against all foreign made tractors except kubota as far as reliability goes in addition to parts. Is there any truth to this? Would there really be a likelyhood say 10 years down the line that it might be difficult to get parts for this tractor made in Pune, India? Would the US made tractors contain various foreign parts anyways? Or is he just biased against all new and foreign tractors. He stated that he is an Oliver and White guy, so he really likes the old stuff.

Thanks

That would be my guess.

JD has a excellent reputation for supporting older model machines, I doubt that will change.

We have 3130 Deere made in Germany several years ago and parts are not as available as the same era USA made Deere. Current production run, just wait and see? Ken Sweet

What would the new reality be?
Thanks

That all compact tractors are foreign made. Every single brand name is made outside the USA. Some claim made in USA but are really only assembled here which mean mostly that they buy the rims and tires here (sometimes) They all come packed in container via ship with 20 or so to the container and the local distributor assembles them usually at a central location to be trucked to the dealers nation wide. The only difference is that the "foreign made" some of them go straight to the dealers to be assembled whereas the USA made one get assembled at a big assembly plant somewhere and then shipped. Sadly, this has been the case for many years now. Only the large Ag tractors seem to be still built in the USA now.

I don't know when it started, but John Deere tractors are kinda like American autos - they have had some parts made in other countries since at least the 1970's.

I agree with the new reality. Since most members on here are concerned about price, cost and their wallets, rather than US manufacturing capability, US worker living wages, or US company tax payments and investments, there is a natural progression to the missing Middle Class dilema. Its the Gracity factor, you know, poop runs downhill.

What goes around, comes around (hopefully)...

I'm not sure about that, I think many members here think about their fellow Americans when buying. We've had this discussion often. I for one am very concerned about suporting my community and the American worker.

As for the middle class in this country, without getting into politics, there's a tremendous burden on them. I was talking to a very nice women at the VA and she said there are a lot of people losing their houses here due to high taxes. We just paid the school tax and it is very high. I don't know how long this can go on. She agreed.

I just got my home electric bill from the Coop and I noticed a 10% Environmental Surcharge on my bill. This is the first time I have noticed that. Anyway that alone increased my bill $25 for the month. I fully expect if "Cap and Tax" passes the current 10% will go to 50% or 75% and I don't know how the me or the economy can function with these extra taxes? Ken Sweet
