I was a forklift mechanic for 22 years. A small gift to the right guy might score you a pair for nothing.

I got mine through a friend: He said the forklift inspector didnt want him to take them because it wasnt allowed... However if he pulled them out of the scrapbin after the inspector disposed of them, the inspector wouldnt bother, because then it would NOT be his responsibility if anything happened with these rejected forklift forks...

Yesterday i lifted a package of drywall (also lifting the tractors rear wheels), weighing way over a ton. You wouldnt notice that the forks are actually rejected ;)

Over here in Holland, a crate of beer for the favour, is the bribe of choice ;)

I bought a 6k pair forty two inches long for $80.00 The local steel yards price them between $275. to $300. A quick tach frame is simple to construct. A cage to fit on the forks is next to reach some of the higher places. A set of forks I saw at a farm show only had a 2k lift capacity ( combined ). One should check the capacity before purchase.

People that use them with tractors dont have to check the capacity.... I use discarded forks of a 1.5 ton forklift, but my loader lifts just about 1200 kg.
Most folks on this board use compact tractors, with loaders lifting between 400 to 800 kg.

If you use it with an industrial TLB like some members have, you seriously need to look at the rating, but with compact, up to medium sized farm tractors, you wont bend industrial forklift forks..... ;)
