So I am having an overtemp issue, and it has been a bit of a bugger.... Finally found out from Deutz itself that it could be a faulty Thermostat (OK, did not know my tractor had a thermostat). Deutz wants 180 for the part. Didn't bother calling PT. Called my regional deutz parts supplier and they do not have it in stock but want $85... OK, Thats a nice discount.... Get on the net as I want it sooner than they can deliver and I find two sources,
The first, and who I went with is Commercial Diesel Parts Service. $30 for the thermostat and they had 30 in stock. But they had a Deutz Tech who really knew the engine. Right of the bat he had torque specs and told me how to not screw up the job (the bolt holding the thermostat in can mushroom if overtorqued). And he concurred (mostly) with my Thermostat idea. He said it is rare that they only partially open but it does happen.
The other company that came recommended but I did not call was
Foley Engines | 100 Years of Expert Advice
Anyway, for those who need a bit of help the tech at cdp texas was really good and very patient with a moron like me
Oh, one big note for those Deutz owners, the Foley sight says you should change out timing belts every 1000 hours.
