Finding deals on Craigslist isn't normally a problem, it's just being the first guy to call and/or show up to claim the prize is the hard part.

This time, I got lucky and scored a pretty clean Kubota FL1020 tiller for my B7100! I gave $800 for it, the seller had used it on a B7100 before he threw a rod mowing.

All the "issues" that I had trying to use half of a 2 bottom plow that was still too big for my tractor melted away when I dropped this tiller into the garden.....

Thought I'd share a video: YouTube - Rototilling the New Garden With a Kubota FL1020 Tiller and My B7100

I wish I could come across a deal like that. Doesn't look like it had hardly been used. Used tillers are hard to come by. Thanks for the vid.

Very nice, I keep my eye on craigslist just in case something comes along that's a deal like you got.

Congratulations. I obtained a Kubota tiller a few years ago with one of my tractor purchases. Never used it for myself. Did the churches garden one year and did a neighbors. Sold it to my neighbor for $500 last year who didn't have much need for it either. He did a garden this year about 10' by 40'. My brother in law asked last fall if I still had the tiller and I told him I sold it to my neighbor who didn't need it either. He wanted me to ask neighbor if he'd sell it. Ron (neighbor) said not now. Last week Ron said he'd sell so $500 back to Ron and the tiller is back to me and isn't for sale:) if anything I have isn't for sale. My brother had rented a tiller for his garden for $58 and beat himself to death with it a few weeks ago. He says he'll be glad to pay me the $58 to till his garden from now on so I will get my money back and will offer to do other neighbors small gardens. As you use that tiller sitting on your butt, always keep thinking about how much more fun it would be with a hand operated tiller.:D

Nice find!

I found a Yanmar RS1303 on CL for $200, but it needed new tines (another $240 w/ shipping), and it isn't anywhere near as nice looking as yours.

I watch CL almost daily. You never know what will pop up. I missed out on a B2400 w/ LA351 loader, 6' back blade, and a 14' trailer for $8,000 by only a few hours. It was sold within 2 hours of being listed. So yes, finding great deals on CL is easy -- being the first to call -- not so much.

Happy tilling!

Jay

Thanks all! I'm pretty much a Craigslist addict by now! I check the 3 different cities with 200 miles of me multiple times daily. Like jas67 says you never know!

Now I'm offering to till up anything I can find! Wife wouldn't let me attack the backyard at home, so I hit the compost pile, took all of 30 seconds....

It sure will make it easy to put in random flower gardens at the property!

Just be careful tilling ground that hasn't been tilled before. Like you said, you never know what you'll find (roots, rocks, electric/phone/cable wire ). If you have a box blade, drop the teeth the whole way, and drag that over the ground first to find any "hidden treasure."

Yes, my power line was only buried about 8", and the CATV line 6. I didn't find them with my tractor, but builder that built my pole barn did when re-grading for the driveway. And they were NOT where the "One-Call" people marked them.
