Since my experience of almost falling off my shop I have been looking online at new ideas and have come across the Chiken Ladder. Sounds funny but looks like a light weight ladder that lays across the roof and hooks on the ridge area so you have something to hang on and come down. Metal building roofs have nothing to grab to when you start sliding. I think this might be a good investment. Check it out arcochickenladder.com

Used them for years while roofing and currently have one hooked up on my roof for accessing the tv antenna ( no cable bill in this house for 15 years) also quit roofing because I fell off one 25 years ago which has left me disabled but I was lucky enough to continue working 17 more years. Chicken ladders have been used since man left caves.
