Kubota B7500
Hey all,

Im an avid RP fan and use all of their products in all of my equiptment. So, it was a becoming frusterating when I couldnt find a replacement RP engine oil filter for my B7500 - tired of dealing with my local kubota dealer and theyre nearly $20 when shipped online.

So I finally spoke with Mike at Bud Renier enterprises and he helped me find a spec for spec RP replacement for the Kubota filter. I just finished the oil change and not only does purple look better, but it fit better than the stock. It no longer rubs on the radiator hose like the stock filter. All the measurements are in the pictures below. As it turns out, theres only a handfull of filter sizes in the world RP has a cross reference for nearly all of them.

Everyday I love royal purple more and more.

As a side note, I got into changing oil today and just went down the line of trucks, cars, and equiptment draining everything. Turns out I didnt check to see if I had enough oil for my daily driver. So now its just gonna drain for a day or two until more oil comes in.....not wise

Never heard of them. (RP)
You might like to measure your dimensions in millimetres in future. The Kubota is a metric machine.

There are numerous options on filters - It's a consumable item and therefore very profitable for filter-makers. Wix, Fram, Donaldson etc.

The only three dimensions you need to worry about are Screw Thread (diameter & pitch), Sealing Ring (dia.) and Length.

I do like the manufacturers own filters. They're made for the job and they always fit. No measuring required.

Interestingly, the OEM filter has 6 x flow holes and your RP has only 5 (and they look smaller) so at best the RP has, potentially, less flow. (?)

Agreed, nice colour though. :drink:

Hey Spanner. I see youre from NZ and Im guessin' them all theres use metric....we dont. Lol, but if this particular measurment will help you in metric, my caliper can convert it for you. Just let me know.

I was worried about the threading too. But the threading is a perfect fit. Its M20 thread I think. As for the holes, a .25" hole at 3psi will move roughly 51gpm. So with oil, we cut that by a 3rd. So lets go conservative and say 16gpm. Now theres 5 holes, so thats 80gpm. The system holds 3.2 liters, or a little under a gallon.....soooo by my non-mathmitician business degree math thats means those 5 holes should be able to cycle the entire capacity of the system at least 80 times a min. I dont think thats true, and in laymens terms, I think the 5 holes will work just as well as the 6 for a baby tractor like mine. Plus I have the comfort of knowing that Royal Purple filter media filters down to 1 micron or less whereas I have no info on the Kubota filters other than Kubota sells them for a lot more.

I agree with the three measurements, except on the B7500. The stupid radiator hose is literally molded around the filter and is in direct contact with it. Guess they were trying to keep it tight.... so OAD was critical on this fit.

And as an added bonus, all the headache that Mike from Bud Renier and I went through for this single filter hopefully will help RP and everyone else looking for an alternative :)

Pps, sorry if Im coming across like a D, my truck is still draining and I spilled a bucked of oil on my freshly pressure washed driveway.....

I can understand the crisis you're experiencing currently, so D is allowed.

Yes, we're metricated here. But irregardless of where it is the Kubota is a metric machine.
I grew up in an 'imperial measurment' world. Then we went metric. Then I travelled to the UK and became imperialised again but had Europe nearby and so metrics were a constant. Then I came home, back to a metric world. I'm capable of the mathematical conversions. I'm just saying the dimensions read easier as, generally, whole mm rather than fractions of an inch.

Despite wherever I was, the Kubotas I worked on were - metric.

Do you use inch spanners on it or metric?

If I ever get to Clarksville - I'll meet you at the station. :)

Thats all a very good point. Metric for metricized machines. However, Ive Americanized my Kubota (well, the wheel studs at least).

Im not so good with the math, so I hit the convert button on my calipers :)

Spanners? Dont use no spanners. I do use wrenches though. And Ive got the normal ones and those foreign mm ones too.

Lol, if you ever come to clarksville, call first. Either the razor sharp metal fence, 7kv fence behind the first fence, or 3 guard dogs will make your acquaintance before I even know youre there.

I'm pretty sure he's referencing the Beatles' tune, "Last Train To Clarksville"; (and I'll meet you at the station)

I agree with your interpretation, but the song "Last Train To Clarksville" was recorded by the Monkees (1966), not the Beatles. It was written by Boyce and Hart, not Lennon and McCartney.

Ah, which is why I didnt recognize it. Slightly before my time, but besides that Im a little slow when it comes to references. Ive had people tell me quotes from movies or songs as parts of stories and here I am thinking they really had a good saying or quote until I tell my wife. Then she lets me know how slow I am.

I've never worried to much about the size of a filter but I learned what is inside is what really counts!!! The paper median is the most important.
