While searching for a missing cow in a remote corner of the farm, I came across this. Guess I'd never been in that spot before. Anyone have a guess as to year/make? Would make a heck of a project car!

Hi japody

Your find appears to be a Ford Model T touring which was an open top 4 door. My Dad used to restore these when I was a kid. It is probably from the early to mid 1920's . Although you may laugh I have seen far worse cars rescued. It would make a really good parts car for someone restoring a T.

Cool thread. I've got a few remnants on my 4.5 acres, looks like it was maybe a helper/farm hand's shack. Chimney still stands, small (wood fired?)cook stove is still there but in rough shape. No idea of it's age, but my land was an apple orchard 100+yrs ago. The house that used to be here (before we bought the land) was BEAUTIFUL.

Too bad it was torn down.

Also, there are a few crude cement pads around the property. One day I'll see if anything is under them.

The old guy that previously owned our place had what was widely reported to be a really nice log cabin just across the fence from where our house is now. When he got ready to sell/move on, he BULLDOZED the whole thing down into the ravine. Didn't want any other family members to be able to own it. Our family may be a little dysfunctional, but I'm sure glad we're not THAT bad!

We used to have an old 40s or 50s car in our woods.

Did you find the cow?

She came walking up today with a little brown calf behind her. A welcome, and cute, sight. She's a black angus. I guess the recessive genes came out.

On another note, we had bad storms come through here Sunday night. We went to the back of the farm today to check the fences. There is a creek that is the rear boundary, and that is fenced to keep the cows out of the creek. As we came around a curve, we heard a calf crying out. The mother cow was on our side and the calf was across the creek. Calf was only a day or two old. Had no idea how it got there. I had to climb down the steep bank, cross the creek, which was about 20 feet wide and 3 feet deep, and climb up the other side's steep bank. I took a rope with me. I was able to catch the calf. I tied the rope around her fashioned with a handle on top. Carried her by the handle and reversed my path. Her mother was there to greet us when I came back up on the other side. The calf immediately started nursing. The fun never stops!
