I am planning to install Kubota frame stiffeners on my B7610. These are the stiffeners required before attaching a Kubota 3 pt backhoe.

The stiffeners bolt to the rear axle housings. This requires removing three bolts on each axle housing where they attach to the differential case and replacing them with studs and bolts supplied with the stiffeners. The directions that came with the stiffeners say to drain the transmission oil and remove the rear tires before installing the stiffeners.

Has anyone added these stiffeners and if so do you know why you would have to remove the rear wheels and drain the transmission oil?

Thanks,
Dave

I'll be doing the same thing on my B2400 soon. I would guess removing the wheels gives better acess, and i suspect you need to drain the hydraulic oil as the threaded holes go right through the case. If you don't drain the hydraulic oil...... it will be running out the holes when you remove the bolts.

I can see removing the wheels for easier access.

Hmmm... never thought about the bolt holes going through the case rather than being entirely within the solid housing itself.

Also, since my rear tires are filled, I wonder how much of a pain it will be handling them, especially reinstalling them?
