Hi folks,
Hoping one of you can save me some time and a 60 mile trip. I have a Fred Cain spring loaded tine 48" cultivator and I wanted to order a sweep or two to replace one of the reversible straight teeth that is on it now. The purpose would be to put something on there to create a better row trench in the garden that would be better than what I get from just the straight tooth now. So the question is first, will this acheive what I'm trying to accomplish? and secondly does anyone know what the bolt spacing is on the teeth? I have found some on e-bay but I've seen bolt spacing of 1 3/4", 2", and i think 2 1/4". I'd like to order one before I make the trip this weekend as I don't have internet access there. Thanks for any help.

Just got home again....its 1 3/4" in case anyone ever wants to know. Going back again tommorrow, luckily the main garden area won't need to be "row'd" till next week. Using the old hoe tommorrow for the taters and onions I guess.

To lay off garden rows, just wrap a grass sack around the existing narrow point. Secure it in place with baling wire. Remove the shanks as needed. Ken Sweet

That's different I only use the old hoe when I get insomnia. :D

Wow....I actually believe in the grass sack idea....well I have an idea anyway...taters are already planted....just looking for a way to identify rows better with narrow points. Sweet has sparked an idea....I'll report my findings.

After almost 64 years, I have found ways to do things without spending extra money. "Times bein what they are" these type ideas help me a lot. Ken Sweet
