\"FREEDOM FIELD\" Pride in the USA
I go thru Corsicana, Tx. almost every week. I finally was able to pass thru this Friday during daylight and was able to take a couple of pictures. Look at the attachment and then read on.
Hats off to the people of Corsicana and Navarro County for this project.
The Freedom Field was dedicated on Sept. 11 as a remembrance of those who have sacrificed thier lives, suffered injuries and those still serving our nation. Each row of the 8 foot tall flags will remind you of rank on rank of soldiers standing at attention, guarding us even now. A reminder of those that will come to the "Freedom Field" just how deeply we experience the sacrifice of those who have served our nation.
At present there are over 1000 flags flying, with more being added each week. The proceeds from this event will be used to create a lasting memorial to reflect on the value of the flag and what it represents. The first phase is the installation of a 130 foot tall flagpole with a 30 foot by 60 foot flag that was presented during the opening ceremonies.
Ribbons and bows are tied to the flags by each flags sponsor. Red and Blue ribbons remember those First Responders who lost their lives that fateful day on Sept 11, 2001 as well as honor those Responders of Navarro County. Yellow ribbons honor our Military Soldiers who have and still make the ultimate sacrifice to protect us and our nation. White ribbons are to honor a specific person.
This was a truely awsome sight, especially at night when they are lit with flood lights and a gently breeze is blowing.
