Fresh caught perch, chantrelles, zuchinni and summer squash

I swapped two dozen eggs for the perch and picked the rest. It wasn't the fanciest meal, but after cooking everything up in my best cast iron frying pan it tasted pretty darned good.

Dessert was from my mother, a type of cake with peaches from a tree that my father planted years ago.

White perch, fresh water.

You just reminded me though. I used to go to the coast every year and catch a feed of mackerel. I should do that soon.

Here on the BIG lake we buy fresh fish from the local fishermen about once or twice a week. Here is one of there boats in shove ice.

I remember seeing those boats quite a bit when I was a kid. The last few I've seen are sitting in fields.
