Fresh spring stuck

Worst part was the wife saw it so I also got an I told you so with a walk of shame.

I hear you there. My wife doesn't care as long as I can walk away from it and the tractor is still worth more then the rest of the payments but she will take a great delight in rubbing it in just on general principles of course.

Atleast you got it out in one piece. Have seen a couple of combines and a coupe pulled out in pieces before.

Now you got me worried. I have a small creek on the far backside of my property that I need to get to and fence off some of the rogue hunters that don't respect others property. I'm going to reassess that plan for the new 'Bota L2501. Might as well start looking up "How to build a bride for a tractor". Probably be like anything else I build...it will look good but won't hold up in an inspection! :pullinghair:

Mud like OP had will beat you most of the time.

If your crossing is relatively shallow and narrow (meaning no steep approach/departure), crossing the creek at an angle may give you a slight edge. That way only one wheel is hitting the deepest part at a time.

I had to break a logging chain to learn of that trick. :drink:

Reminds me of a spring weekend many years ago when my wife decided to drive her car down the access trail along the power lines and ended up in the back of some guy's hay field. The trail petered out of course, and she thought she'd just drive out in the field to turn around. Bottomed the car out in the mud.

So the owner guy offers to tow her out with his truck and comes in from the opposite side of the field. Yep, gets his truck sunk to the bottom of the chassis.

About this time they call me. I drive over to the place and walk out into the field. Ayuh, you're stuck. You're gonna need someone with a good winch and several hundred feet of cable.

Called up a couple of local towing places. First didn't have what was needed and was smart enough to say so. Second was a truck towing agency. Came out with the big fellow and ran a cable to the owner's truck. Then daisy-chained a cable from the truck to the wife's car. Pulled them both out together slicker than goose grease.

Saw one of the south of the border lawn guys bury one of those stand up zero turn mowers yesterday at the local airport. Quite hilarious.
