Been having an issue with my front drive shaft for my 4WD on my FX28D, not specifically a problem with the drive shaft, but the coupler that the shaft goes in to, the steel balls keep coming out of the coupler, the "cap" that holds the balls in is worn out and I can't find a replacement....Hoye tractor suggested this site. I would prefer to replace the entire coupling unit, but can't find that either.
Any suggestion? Thanks! I do know that the drive shaft parts are interchangeable between the FX28, FX26, FX32 and FX42.

I was helping Nubbin a little on that yesterday but we could not really figure out that piece's purpose. What was that piece made out of? Was it metal or like a hard plastic or rubber? I have never seen one of those on any of the other 4wd Yanmar models. My suspicion is that it was just used for the assembly line to help hold the balls in the coupler during installation but I don't know for sure.

Below is the piece I think you are talking about.

THAT part is the spline seal. Enjoy the schematic but doesn't show label of parts

What machine do you have? The YTOG might have the parts manual for it for free.

Looks to me like a retainer to hold the rubber boot on the housing.
