When I change it I will use gear oil...

I am using UTD at this time but I will probably go with standard 70-90wt next go around.

It is just gears that go no faster than 10mph.

UDT?
SUDT?
Gear Oil? (80w-90)

Just wondering what everybody is using?

I use 80W-90 (API-GL4) as is recommended.

AFAIK the recommended 80W-90 gear oil is more viscous than UDT or SUDT, since the kinematic viscosity of 80W-90 oil is 139 cSt @ 40 degrees C and the ISO value of hydraulic oil is equal to the kinematic viscosity @ 40 degrees C and the ISO values of UDT/SUDT lie in the range of ISO 32-68.

I am currently using UDT. I have thought of switching to gear lube but the viscosity is a bit thicker with the gear lube and I am worried about what will happen when it is 20 below zero. UDT seems to flow better in the cold weather than gear lube does.

I'm using SUDT. I just performed my 50 hour service last weekend and this is what my dealer recommended. He may have only recommeded it because they make more money off the sale. So far, I'm sticking with what they say until I get more educated myself on the tractor.

The BX manual says you can use either one.

At last service I changed mine from UDT to 80W90, I have seen no difference but with my older B7100 that' what the service manual called for.

My manual says either gear oil or UDT/SUDT. I use SUDT because of lots of cold/very cold weather use. Snow plowing and logging mostly. 350 hrs of hard use and no leaks or drips.

Right now I use SUDT because that is what was in it and it does a good job with no leaks. I may change to a synthetic gear oil when I change over, but for now SUDT.-TPS

UDT here as specified in owner's manual --- will stick with UDT. On my 5th Kubota in 30 years never had a problem with UDT.

I use 80-90 gear oil in both. One has 1500 hours & the other over 400 hours.

I just rebuilt the front axle on my 2002 Kubota B2910HSD. A bearing froze on the spiral bevel shaft, and spun inside the housing...gouging it out. Total parts cost was about $650. I had been using Super UDT all this time, and changed it a recommended intervals. I am now using 80/90W gear oil, and intend to stay with that. The Korean bearings used in these housings need all the protection they can get.

Gear oil, they both leak out the center pivot the same rate. :(
