My dk5510 had no oil on the front axel dip stick. Drained about 1 gallon and refilled with about 1.4 gallons. I drained on left and right sides, but missed the center drain bolt.

Question is if the level is checked by dip stick screwed all the way in or just insert dip stick without engaging threads?

I assume that level is checked without screwing it in based on the level and the amount of fluid replaced.

Thanks all

I wrote a question about this too for my CK2610. I had read elsewhere that your approach is correct- don't screw in threaded dipsticks, press in the ones with O-ring type seals. So I filled to the mark without screwing it in.

I was glad I followed another poster's advice which was to check the level frequently immediately after changing the fluid. There must be some nooks and crannies that don't fill immediately, even after operating in 2WD/4WS, as mine had to be topped off at least two-three times afterwards before it stabilized level.

For what it's worth, Toukow
