Hi,

Anyone know an easy way to attach a slide hammer to the pinion shaft on the front axle of a 4110?

As you can see in the picture there is nothing to attach the slide hammer to.

why would you want to attach a slide hammer?
Remove that seal and then take the nut loose!

Take the drive shaft coupler, weld a nut to the other end for the slide hammer, slot the other end, . Take small muffler clamp and clamp it to the pinion. It works well.

Wallace's exploded view shows you do not need a slide hammer. It dose look like a nut and an snap ring holding things together behind the seal. It seems that if you needed a slide hammer to remove, the hole at the end of the pinion shaft would be threaded. Just my :2cents:

You will need a slide hammer. New England described the set up you need. You will need to buy another coupler but there inexpensive. The nut just holds the bearing on the shaft.
