Tractor
Mahindra 4035
To start with this is a 4035 Mahindra gear tractor. I was at a job site and noticed gear oil running down bottom of rim so called dealership and talked to mechanic and he said to bring it on in. Well I drove over to trailer and started up the ramps and i happened to look at the tire leaning out on top so I dropped the bucket as soon as I could and about the time bucket hit the trailer the tractor tire, rim and shaft fell off. I held front of tractor up with loader and drove it on trailer. Fortunately its still under warranty. There was three small bolts rung off the end of shaft. My question is has anyone herd of this happening on this model before, less than 700 hrs on tractor.

1st one I can recall, but at my age that is not saying much.... :) I have a 5035 that has the same front axle, just bigger tires. Over 400 hours and moved tons of dirt/gravel/stumps with the FEL. But I also have 1500 pounds of backhoe hanging out the rear for ballast... which helps the front axle some....

I dont run 4 wheel drive often and never on hard surface and when the hoes not on I have a 800lbs plus box blade on or a 6 ft rotary cutter. The mechanic told me the shaft and bearing where pressed in and the three bolts just helped hold it in place. He said hes seen a couple tractors do this and the bearing was crushed out of shape and that allowed it to turn loose and it shear the bolts. I dont know but I guess I will find out they are taking it apart now so hopefully I will know something first of week.

Definitely keep us updated with the full resolution. Same thing I have, except mine is HST. I'm very interested in the outcome and cost.

Best of luck in a speedy and inexpensive repair.

I did not think to take pictures in to big a hurry to get to mechanic. I will keep you posted it is supposed to still be under warranty, 6 year drive train. I should know something in the next few days and will post outcome.

There was a campaign similar to this on that model.. also be sure you have them check for the fuel line campaign while its in. Easy to find they will plug the serial number in and whatever it needs it will pop up

Well got the tractor back today and mechanic said bearing and shaft was good he replaced seals and bolts that had broke off. He seems to think what happened was someone over tightened bolt or bolts and broke a bolt and over time the other two broke maybe over specked? I dont know but I will put it to work tomorrow and see how it does, hopefully no more problems. Still under warranty so no cost to me except down time. I said 6 year warranty in a earlier post but it was 5 years at the time I bought the tractor. I also had fluid taken out of the front tires too, dont think it had anything to do with it but not taken chances.
