Can I put a front blade on my Craftsman 18HP garden tractor? How does it attach and how is it raised and lowered? Any information will be appreciated. Let me know if anyone have any sleeve hitch implements that want to sell.

The front blade for the craftsman garden tractor is 48 inches wide. It bolts onto the frame and has a handle that comes back to the operator. You pull to raise the blade and push to lower. There is a trigger to pivot either left or right. The cost for a garden tractor is 299.99 plus tax.
It is designed for snow removal but could work just as well to level dirt or push light grade materials.

I have one in my barn that I'll give you. I'm in central Indiana. It should fit most larger Sears units.

Thanks for the input. I have found the Sears web page that shows all of the garden tractor attachments that are available from Sears.

What garden tractor attachments have you used and what has been your experience with them? Are the worth the money?

Joeinindy - Thanks for the offer. If you would be willing to ship it to me I would be more than happy to pay you for it and the freight cost.

I spend far to much time in SEARS (and money). High on my list of attachments would be the box blade, snow blade, trailer, and plugger.

Pajoube - I am planning to purchase a rear blade, box scrapper and snow blade and a set of chains. I already have 55 lb. weights on the rear wheels.

When I got the front blade for my Craftsman, Sears was selling two different models. One was for snow only (rather lightweight), and one was for snow/dirt/gravel. I got the heavier of the two, mostly concerned about longevity. It worked well in snow (with 55# wheel weights and chains). I was able to move loose dirt and gravel, but could not budge packed dirt.

It raises and lowers using the same lever that moves my mowing deck up and down.

A word of advice if you pick up a used one: see if you can get the manual with it, or pick one up from Sears. There are some parts that you install on the tractor, and leave there even when the blade is removed for mowing season. You may not get these parts with yur used blade. You can order them from Sears, or get some of them made... they're pretty simple, if I recall.

John Mc - Thanks for the input. I checked with Sears and they told me that they no longer sell a front blade for my tractor. It is probably 14 years old. That is why I am looking for a used one.
