I am getting a new bx23 on Thursday with a hydraulic front blade and quick disconnect. The salesman said the quick disconnect part would stay on the tractor with the FEL, but another salesperson (owner) said it should come off because you can hit it with the FEL. In order to mount it the front grill is removed. This seems like it contradicts the whole reason to have a quick disconnect. Is this correct?

This will be my first real tractor!

Ken, I'm guessing your setup is simiar to mine (MF GC2300), other'n I don't have the front blade. I do however have a front-mount snowblower that goes on a subframe. Hydraulic lines are connected to the subframe. I'm guessing your "quick disconnect" is my subframe. I do take the grill off to mount the subframe.

The quick disconnect part is probably changing between front-mount implements--i.e. front blower to front blade, etc. My blower just slides on/off the subframe, as I'm guessing the front blade does too.

Maybe (!) your salesman misunderstood your question. The FEL subframe (different than front subframe) probably does stay on your tractor, as mine does. Whole different deal...

The only thing about a Kubota BX quick disconnect is that you can switch between a plow blade, snowblower, sweeper, etc. quickly. The quick hitch must be removed when using the loader. Removing the hitch isn't much of a job. 2 Tee handled bolts and lift it off is all that it takes. Here is a file picture of the quick disconnect with lift cylinder. Don't know where I got the picture, so I can't take credit for the photography.

A couple of days ago I removed the FEL & installed the Quick Hitch and plow for the first time on the BX23. It took a little longer than it should have because of reading (and re-reading) the manual and double checking the steps so I wouldn't screw anything up /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, but it was amazingly fast & simple to do.

Ken,

I have used my BX23 without removing the quick connect mount many times. As recently as last weekend. You need to disconnect the hydraulics to the mount and move the hoses out of the way. One piece of advice... after you take the plow off the mount, close the lifting cylinder to move the swing arm up before disconnecting the hoses otherwise it stays low and may gather debris.

Thanks,

Joe
