Welcome to TBN

What kind of tractor are you going to put this blade on?

Welcome to TBN!!!

In addition to BP's question, how much plowing do you have to do (that is length of drive)...and how much snow does your area normally get?

Do you want a front mount, loader mount or 3 point? Welcome to TBN!

The OP hasn't responded and I have the same question... so I'll jump in :D

Tractor is Kubota L3540 w/ LA724 loader plus SSQA and 3rd func hydraulics

Driveway is gravel and 650 feet, plus about 1/4 mile private road - also gravel.

Average snow to plow at once is 6-8", but sometimes can be 12-14".

I have been thinking about a FEL snow blade as they seem the most versatile: quick off and on, can be raised really high, and about the same cost as the kubota frame-mount front blade.

I have seen web site info for blades from Landpride, Curtis (SnoPro), and Meyer. The only cost I have seen is about $4k for the Landpride.

Negatives I have read about FEL blades is the racking force on the loader and how plowing takes some weight off the front wheels making it (somewhat) difficult to steer.

This is a sizable investment and I need something that will work well this winter. This is a tough decision:confused: I also wonder if a rear blower would be better... but I think a blade would be quicker.

thanks!

i am looking at the same thing. I have an old snow plow off of a truck myer i think heavy old beast. I am thinking about adding it on to my loader, by making brackets that attach to my front bale sticker. I am running a 1650 oliver for the tractor. How ever problem i have is i dont have third function. How ever the old truck i am taking this all off of had an addon hydro pump that ran off of a belt from the motor. What i am thinking is running it direct off of the pto, make a bracket that mounts it to the draw bar.

I have an old valve body from a log splitter that i was thinking about using to control the direction of the blade. Figure i could use a cris/cross on the lines so it is using both rams at one time to turn the blade under a load. What do you guys think of the idea.

mrpikeman, caspar3259, nwngunner. Well fellas, I have been commercially pushing snow now for about 8 years. Two of my current small machines are a BX2660 and a B3030. On both of these I use the Kubota front mount snow plows. I have pushed through drifts as tall as 5' with either machine. Now as far as being able to "lift and stack" snow, I use wheel loaders and backhoes with snow pushers to stack the snow in a small space at the end of a parking lot for instance. But for opening up a road, sidewalk, drive, etc, (gravel or paved) I use the smaller tractors with the snow plows and windrow. It's way faster than any other method in that purpose up to 24"+.
