not heaven but you can see it from here... Brown C
Tractor
Branson (kukje) 4020, 40hp turbo
OK, opened up the boxes of those front chains I bought in Dec for my 4020....and put them on today. We are expecting some kind of weather event tomorrow...not sure if it will be ice, snow, or some kind of combination. Any other branson/century owners out there preparing for this?

Yes, the agony of the wait. I hand shoveled a 5 inch snow after I had bought the tractor but was still waiting for delivery. Then I get this great set-up and no snow. I thought I had jinxed the rest of the winter here. I just looked at weather.com here and they are saying somewhere between 1/4 inch of ice or 4 inches of snow. What am I going to do if ice?

Chains, I think those are what we pull stumps and trees with here in Central Texas. On front tires?????? I don't think we'll have any ice today in the 60's. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Just kidding of course. we're originally from Kansas City and we had to have chains a lot there. Can't hardly wait for 3510. To dealer tomorrow and get deal going. He has two 3510's on the lot, I'm hoping one will be on my lot this next week. More later on developments as they happen.

Bob, 60's....ahhh perfect tractor weather. Well, I am sitting here working on some "real job work related stuff", and watching out at the bird feeder. I think I saw 1 snowflake and it is 10 AM already. It is probably in the 20s here. I bought the front chains....being too cheap to buy all 4. Sounds like you would buy the back ones if you were only going to buy 1 set... however reading forum here convinced me that fronts were the most important for steering, plus I have a lot of weight up there with the FEL. I have a steep driveway, so hoping not to slide. Got out yesterday and brought several loads of firewood to my garage with the fel. (we have a wood furnace). That's another task that the loader makes fun now. I think you will really enjoy yours as you do the landscaping, etc. You can move that mulch around like nobody's business. I don't know though, you might start scraping and digging, and can't stop...and end up with a strip mine or something. You'll be having guys haul you in all kinds of dirt, etc just so you can play with the loader. I'm excited for you. Hope you get it soon.

sassafraspete, that doesn't sound anywhere near heaven! Sunny and 55 here today.

A funny story about moving wood with a loader. When my son was about 11, I gave him the task of filling up the woodshed (4 cords) for the winter. I think I told him I'd give him $25 to fill it. We had a pile of perhaps 8 cords of cut and split wood that was 200 yards or so from the shed. I figued he would use the front loader on a tractor or the Bobcat (753). He's not inclined to wheelbarrows.

In my way of doing things, I'd pull up to the pile, then get out and stack the bucket full, then drive to the shed and take the wood out of the bucket and stack it in the shed. In that manner, it would take a few hours to fill the shed, or for me, a few days because I would lose interest after a few loads.

Well the next thing I heard was the Bobcat at full tilt and he just shoved it into the pile, got a full bucket and charged back to the shed, where he would dump it. His accomplice at the shed (Wife/Mom) would hurriedly stack the dumped wood while son spun and wheelied the Bobcat on his way back for another load. It was less than 2 hours and the shed was full. $12.50 an hour is good wages for a kid to have that much fun. And yes I know, I've got a great wife.

-2 this morning, high today of 20...the snowfall yesterday was very powdery so shoveling wasnt so bad (even took time to ride my 35 year old 'flyer sled down the hill a few times)...next round starts this evening....The dealer had two 2810's on the lot but I guess they dont swap the tires out (I wanted industrial), they just order it that way. No ones heard of a shortage from Branson or with tires have they?...anyway, no tractor for this round, perhaps in another week....or so..

Dave, they say the opposite of heaven never freezes over. Although I did see where the opposite of Heaven was frozen over yesterday. Yes, on the weather channel they were showing a town in Michigan that had that name. Anyway, I load wood like you. Usually rick it to dry, then carry to my furnace in the winter time.

Ok, I think we ended up with 4-5 inches of snow . Never did get the freezing rain here. I am happy to say I am pleased with the front chains. I never slipped once. Now, if someone out there could just tell me how to plow snow with a back blade. I need a lot more practice. Part of my problem was not trusting what the tractor could do on our steep drive in the snow. The drive is gravel , so I had to be careful not to peel back the gravel. Mostly used the back of the blade. How do the rest of you do it....especially those with steep drives?

sure glad that all that white stuff is happening some where else ! When it gets that bad down here - everyone stays home - cause it will all be gone in 24-36 hours.
