Looking for info/details on the loader safety bar for Ford 555B. I've been unable it locate in the Parts Manual. There are a couple of pictures showing it in the operator manual but not much detail is shown. I look at every Ford loader/backhoe I see but none actually have the safety bar even though every 555 loader backhoe as OE.

I have used a length of 2 inch angle iron clamped in position on the lift cylinder when I've needed to work under the raised loader but would prefer to have something more substantial.

Anyone have any info or pictures on it's design/construction would help me in fabricating something.

Thanks

2x2x1/4 structural angle will be as strong as the factory piece. Upgrade to 3/8" and/or 2.5" and be safer.

Mine was missing too. I made a pair from 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 oak ( 1 for each side for safety). Worked fine for years. If you want dimensions I can get those for you.

Are the mounting tabs present on your loader frame? I could take pics & measurements from my machine on Monday.

Thanks you RickB. 2x2x1/4 angle is certainly strong enough but was wondering about the details of the ends on the original safety bar. The angle iron doesn't spread the load over much of an area at each end. Am particularly concerned about the end at the hydraulic cylinder and potential damage to the cylinder.p

You could weld something in the shape of half a large I.D. flat washer to the end of the angle. 'Washer' I.D would have to be bigger than the cylinder rod.

Thank you, OldMasterTech. The mounting tabs ARE still present on the loader frame. I am more interested in details of the ends of the originals safety bar and what, if anything, is there to spread the load, particularly at the end next to the hydraulic cylinder. A picture showing the each end of the safety bar would be very usefull

Thanks again. Washers with 2 inch ID are not available from local source, but can order them from Grainger or Amazon.
