My front end loader bucket is giving me problems, the loader bucket is rolling down slowly own its own,,i can bump the lever and it will pop right back up, the loader lift arms hold up and do not leak down..trying to figure out where to start , are the cylinders on the bucket leaking internaly or is it going to be in the control valve,,cylinders are not leaking externally,,any help appreciated

If you have quick disconnects on the loader try setting the bucket down level on the ground disconnect the two for the bucket but leave the loader arms connected. Start the tractor and raise the arms. If bucket still falls and the disconnects are not leaking then it's a cylinder. If not, then it's the valve. Hope that helps.

On your loader do the cylinders extend to dump? If yes possible the internal piston seals are leaking.

Simple test: with the bucket level lower the loader to the ground to remove the load induced pressure on the dump circuit. Unhook the quick disconnects for the dump cylinders. Raise the loader off the ground. If the bucket dumps your piston seals are leaking on the dump cylinder

This thread is likely to get out of hand. Assuming the cylinders are extending when it’s leaking down it could be a cylinder or a valve. I’d start with lifting the front of the tractor up and seeing if the bucket leaks up. If so it’s the valve leaking. If not it’s likely the cylinder. A more fail proof plan would be to unplug the quick connects to the curl function and see if it still leaks.

The clearances in a control valve are so small normal people cannot measure them. From memory 0.0002" Leaks in control valves are very rare and there are no seals between the spool and the valve bore.

If you follow this diagnostic procedure, no skipping steps, you will finish with an answer to your question.
