My front PTO spins at 2500 rpm
It works good but I have to run at 2500 rpm engine speed in order to get a decent amount of air flow. I tried increasing the rpms with a belt and pulley setup but I kept burning belts every 10 minutes of use. It was most likely due to unmatched belt-pulley sizes and/or misalignments. The good news is that it worked great. At that speed _aprox 5000 rpm_ it feels like a tornado!, and this is the way I want it to work. I looked up gearboxes and even though I found a couple of speed increasing ones they could not handle the rpms and/or load requirements. I looked into gear and chain setups but didn't think it would be safe to risk metal parts flying around if it failed. I initially liked the idea of a belt/pulley setup due to the dampening effect and the safety factor but I'm not sure how to go about making one that can withstand the forces applied on it in this setup. Can someone help out with an idea or a link to a matched 1:2 ratio kit that's already mounted and aligned properly? Or a gear speed increaser to handle this particular setup?
BTW the fan bearings only get slightly warm at this speed so Im pretty sure it can handle it.
