Can anyone tell me where I can find a front mount snowblower and front mount PTO setup for a YM2002D? Winter is coming fast to the northern states and I want to be prepared. Any ideas?
If you are talking about a standard 540rpm pto, then that could take some serious work. I heard that they were sort of common in Canada, in the form of a front 540rpm pto, and 3pt hitch. The front pto was driven by the back pto, and cables or chains were used to lift the front 3pt with the rear 3pt.
Another option is a front mount electric clutch. There were several belly mowers made using the front pto setup. I have one on my YM1301D which came with the YMM-45 belly mower. The setup was intended for a YM135/YM155/YM155D. The clutch mounted out in front of the front bumper - but that interferred with the loader I have on the tractor. So I moved it up under the hood. You can see pictures of this on my web page. (Current plans are to either mount a 54" JD hydraulic lift and angle front blade, or possibly a 48" snow blower driven by the front electric clutch.)
The YM2002D was never intended to have a front pto on it - but that doesn't mean it can't be done. The electric clutch and belt type is probably easier. Both options are pricey. Some of the dealers here may have an electric clutch you could use, or you could look for one from any number of older garden tractors. I think any option is going to require some light fabrication work.
Good luck. If you want more information, send me a PM.
I have a Yanmar 186D. I got the 48" yanmar snowblower from Gary Jamieson in Honesdale PA couple of years ago. The way mine is rigged they used an electric clutch off the front of the engine. Duel v-belts drive a reduction gear box under the front bumper which drives a 540 snowblower. Yanmar used the same blower mechanism as a rear blower and they had a rig to front mount the blower and run it off the rear pto with a reverse gearbox and a long shaft under the tractor.Sometimes dealers get a tractor in and seperate the implements but you would have to be lucky to find what you want. Yanmar dealers may still be able to get the electric clutch or Gary may still have one in stock. Kabota used to make a blower that looked almost identical to the one I have and the way they rigged it was similar. I think that the JD electric clutch used on the 650/750 will mount on my tractor. Wengers of Myerstown PA has a lot of used parts if you want parts. It may require some doing to assemble a front mount snowblower for your tractor but it probably could be done. There is a dealer list thread here somewhere.
Thanks for the information! I mispoke when I said front mount PTO. I was aware that the JD750 had a front mount electric clutch. Would prefer to find another source, possibly someone could suggest a package deal - electric clutch, mounting hardware, snowblower, etc. I am capable of some fabrication, but certianly be interested in talking with someone who could supply the whole package.
I'm interested too. I think it's the only good way to clear alot of snow. I've gotten away with clearing my 1/3mile drive with the back blade last couple years, but we're over due for a good snow year. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
