So I'm new here but I'm trying to sort out what I really "need" for the front mount blower for my tractor. I have a 2005 Kubota M6800 and I just picked up a Land Pride front mount blower and I'm wondering if I need to spend the extra cash to use the aux tank on the back or if my existing hydraulics are sufficient to run the system without damaging the tractor. Obviously the dealer is telling me I need to spend another 4k to get the aux tank that attaches to my PTO but if I can avoid it...that would be great. Any help is appreciated

Will your tractor's on-board hydraulic pump deliver the blower manufacturer's recommended flow and pressure? If not, then a rear PTO pump may be your only choice.

Your tractor pump flow is 17 GPM.

What is the GPM rating on the blower?

The Land Pride blowers appear to be available with one of three possible hydraulic motors for the same blower size.
There may be a name plate on the unit purchased to reveal which motor is on the unit.
Alternatively, if the owner contacted Land Pride with the model and serial number they could likely advise which motor is fitted.
The lowest motor requires 11-16 gpm.
If the blower is fitted with the mid (17-21) or top flow rate (22-27) motors it certainly wont work on the tractor system
I will be very interested to read your assessment of the situation

What is the reservoir capacity of your M6800? If to small it could cause over heating issues when used in continious duty environment.

I suspect that 17 GPM would provide marginal performance on a 66" wide blower since that would only be around 20 HP to run the blower. (17 GPM @ 2000 PSI) This is allowing for a little line loss since I suspect your tractor hydraulics is around 2500 PSI.

Easy answer is if you have the blower try and see how it performs with tractor hydraulics and them make a decision.

Yah, you are all right...bummer. I was hoping someone could come up with a solid work around to spending more on the aux tank and pto pump but efficient and effective are what I need. Thanks for the help though. I'm working on building a vinyl cab enclosure for it now, all kinds of fun.

Alcan distributors make a front blower driven off rear pto ,for you a little to late as you already purchased the blower .
