How hard would it be to diy install front remotes on my dk55. It has rear remotes installed. Need to hook up a grapple without running hoses to the rear.

This has been asked and answered many times.
There are 3 options: hoses to back: cheap ($150) and easy; electric diverter valve in curl circuit: harder and costs more ($600 and up); and true third function: even harder and costs even more ($900). Cost guesses don't include labor.

What's the concern over using your rear remotes?
I'm doing that with my NX: I'd spent enough on other stuff (like implements) and couldn't justify any other solution, especially given what I expect my use of this function will be. I'm probably at $350 for my parts: I went Cadillac on everything (high-end hoses; a bunch of disconnects; protective sock on much of the hoses; hose saver etc.). I have three rear remotes, in which case I still have one remote available (have an hydraulic top-link).

DK55 is going to be best served with a 3rd function.
WR Long would be near the $900 above. DIY as you suggest could be done cheaper.

I'm with sysop - 3rd function will probably be your best bet.
Depending on how fancy you get with your set-up you can build your own anywhere from $500 to $900 estimates here.

I didn't like a couple things about that kit so I ended up building my own from scratch. After subtracting for "lessons learned" in the design process - I'm probably at about the $850-900 mark but I also have things not included in the W.R. Long kit (like hose protectors, mounting blocks, etc) plus I have a system that is exactly what I want and I understand how every bit works because I built it.

In the interest of full disclosure - I wanted/needed a Sub-plate with ports on just 2 sides instead of 1 port per side and (due to the extra material & machining to make that happen) it was pretty costly compared to a standard sub-plate - which again drove the cost of my project higher.
The most expensive components are the valve/solenoid and hoses. Next down is grip & sub-plate, after that it's just misc fittings & hardware (which collectively is really the 2rd highest "item" after valve & hoses if figured together).
Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

For any DIY approach, I recommend you study and understand the various types of hydraulic fittings. This can be confusing; in addition to different sizes, there are SAE/NPT fittings, English fittings, metric fittings, and Japanese fittings (some in both straight and tapered). A little planning can save you many adapters as well as save space. Several online folks (like Surplus Center, Discount Hydraulic Hoses, and others) have good technical reference material. For example this one from Discount Hydraulic Hoses.
Most of project time I use my rear remotes at the same time I use the fronts. Not an either or situation. I have a W.R. Long kit on my DK45 installed by the dealer when I purchased the tractor. It has a replacement FEL top handle piece that contains the front remote switch. Works great.
