I have been reading about converting a snow blade into semi front bucket. I have a new 54" quick hitch and blade I'll never use it for snow and was going to sell it. Then I got to thinking about converting it into a bucket type attachment so I reserched and found out they exist. Does anyone have one and is it possably to reconfigure the angle ram into a dump action? Perhapse there is not enough throw in the ram for that great a movement.

Lastly how are those johnny buckets they seem nice and with the sale of my blade I have 3/4 of money needed for the johnny and the johnny does everything a blade does plus more.

Any links, vids or conversion picts would be great

They are nice, but relatively light duty. If lift height is not that important it is a good lower-cost option to a full loader.

I am also very interested in trying one of those buckets.
I normally am only moving loose materials around the property,
never loading into a truck, and the attachment JD sells
that uses it's 54" blade looks like it would be handy to
have. I have never sold one, so I can't really give a
good review on how it works. But I can see using one
for moving topsoil, driveway mix, mulch etc.

While a loader is the bomb if one were to see where I live they would ask why I have such a tractor never mind a FEL. It would be handy to have such an impletment or Johnny Bucket for top soil, retreiving it from the pile and then spreading it. Snow removal would easy and the availability to use it as a wheel barrow would be nice. My concern is the tapping of the bucket for total emptying of material. I am not too sure the action would be hard enough or at a great enough pitch to release all material. The price is great but I am still trying to adapt my quick hitch in a way to use the hydraulics for more then the front blade.
I'll bet others have done it.

Have you seen the tractor shovel that JD sells?
it's a clamshell type attachment that goes on your existing
54 blade, no bucket dump per say, just the clamshell opens up
and material drop out the bottom.

I saw the Deere shovel for the first time last night, exactly what I am looking for. It will allow me to keep my blade and quick hitch. There is a power broom in my future and to keep the hitch would be great. I would not need to dig but to shovel and spread. Have you seen one first hand? I haven't seen too many testimonals. Gotta run for a few hours but I am very interested.
