I have a 1973 1020 Deere and it is time to replace the front tires. The original Firestones are 16-6.00 two rib. Can I use 16-6.50? What about the width difference? There is 1" or so clearance between my tire and the steering/chassis (knuckle area). Or...stick with the 16-6.00?

You should be fine to go bigger. Usually the rims are reversible. It puts the valve stem on the inside, but gets you further away from the axle. What width are the rims? If they are 6" you could even go up to a 7.50-16 if you wanted.

Mine has 6.50-16s and no problem. 7.50s will fit width wise, but are quite a bit taller, so lowers the drawbar too much for me.
