Guys, I have a very steep driveway and use 3 concerte bags in my truck to help get traction when pulling out my boat. The are all hardened up by now of course, but they are darned heavy. Anyone ever tried a heavy nylon bag with concrete in it an just letting it drape over the front bumper? A few of these bags would add a lot of weight to the front of a tractor and cost very little. Trick would be to get a container strong enough.

I remember a post on the old board where a guy made a mold and poured wet concrete in. It had bolts on a frame inside the mold. When it dried it was shaped like a rounded off car bumper. It could be bolted to the holes in the Yanmar bumper. I will attach the bumper / weight I made for my first YM1510. The 2" pipe was filled with molten lead. It was much heavier that it looks.

Thanks, I took that picture and made it my logo for Kay's Supply. I put a lot of time into that one. The new owner says it is serving him well.

kayssupply,
Here I go beating a dead horse again, but I "really" like the bumper you made for the 1510! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Would you be wiiling to share your trade secrets on this one..like how you mounted it(bolt on or weld, etc.)? I've been collecting lead weights from tire shops and would like to make something similar for my 1401d.
thanks a lot!

It was bolted on, using the factory holes in the bumper. I bent the 2" with a bender from Northern tool. I used fence post caps for the end caps. If I kept track of the time and had to bill for it, I probably had as much in the bumper as I did the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I am in the process of helping a friend build a brush bumper for his Shibaura.

thanks for your reply...
now what sort of pipe did you use...something like 2" electrical conduit? did you drill thru the pipe and insert bolts?
sorry for so many questions, but thank you for the help! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My front weights are surplus weights of an exercise machine.
