I have a 2016 X758 as you know it is four wheel drive . Anyone change the speed of the front wheels .
If so how is it done .

I have 2013 JD X758. I never even considered changing the speed of the front wheels. The JD X758 is the best garden tractor I have ever owned just the way it is.
I am curious why you want to make the change.

Second best GT is my JD 318 which I bought in 1979 and still own. ;)

4x4 on tractors = specific gear ratio between front and rear tires. due to front tires are normally smaller than rear tires. if you get a different size rear tire, then the front tires also need to be adjusted for correct ratio and sized up correctly. dealerships / tire places for agriculture tires should be able to find this data. and give you information of what you need in mixing matching tires up.

beyond changing tire size, i would say there is no way to change speed, beyond the gas pedal / hst pedal. if you want more than that, then you need to get into heavy modifications and build your own tractor.

After changing the rear tires out what issue are you experiencing now?

Hard for us to tell what you meant by the apparent question in the OP "Anyone change the speed of the front wheels ".
Implies you are interested in changing the speed for some reason.
If so, what do you want to change the speed to that is different that what you have now?
And change the speed on the move, for a particular use, or change it to something faster or slower, and leave it that way?

I ask the question How is it done not I am going to change it .
It would be nice to know how to adjust the front wheel speed (IF I NEED TO ).
I know someone has done this for what ever reason and would also like to know .

Change tire diameters would be about the only way, as was mentioned.

If you own a 4x4 truck you change the gears in the front and rear axle. You could do the same on your tractor. I would guess it would cost any more than $5,000 to do. You just need to remove your exisiting gears, take them to a place that makes custom gears and get new gears made. You could change tire size for a lot less.

It still begs to question why you think anyone would want their front tires to less or more work than designed? That just places more strain on the front end than the engineers thought was prudent.

You can do the math. PIxD for front and rear. Figure out that rollout for both front and rear. Increase your tire size up front by a bit and now it will constantly be straining or working harder than designed because the rear wheels are either loafing or resisting.

If you know this has been done, you may need to ask that person you know has done it.

Well I guess my eyes aren't what they used to be. That's why I highlighted in bold print something I read about a change. :confused3:
