Hi,

Anyone have any experience with a Frontier RB2307 - 7 Ft. Heavy Duty Rear Blade? Or a similar Frontier blade? Looking for some feed back on the build quality and any other details you can share. Planning on getting one cylinder for angle adjustment on it and leave the others manual adjustment for now.

Thank you!

I am not a big fan of all the stuff sticking up at the center of those blades, but they are stout and they do tilt more than the other styles. Have you considered a Land Pride unit? The Land Pride units seem to typically be able to be offset further than most of the other manufacturers and that can make a big difference when the need arises.

Pretty much all of the manufacturers of the true heavy duty hydraulic capable blades make pretty good units. Some have features that others do not, but the overall quality of them is normally very good IMO. ;)

Thanks for the reply. I agree with you about all the stuff on top of the 23 series blade. Interesting that the 24 series Frontier does not have that on top, wonder why the difference? I do not know much about the land pride blades. I was just looking on there web site and there blades do look nice. To match the HP rating of the Frontier 23 series it looks like the Land pride RBT45 would be the one. Do you know where one could compare prices between these blades?

What tractor are you going to be running this behind? The 40 series LP is as heavy duty as you are going to get an 84" blade with if you were to go with a LP unit..

I think that I would think about Gross weight ratings before the HP ratings. You can have all the HP in the world, without any weight, you can't make use of it. The 35 series is rated for 9500lbs. I doubt that you need the 45 series rated for a 15,000 GVW machine, but then again we don't know what you plan on using it behind either.:confused3:

The 24 series is a heavier design than the 23 series and rated so. ;)

Going to be using a 5115M (cab). Should be around 9500lbs? That makes sense about the GVW, I never thought about that. Ordering the tractor Monday and I asked the sales guy to make me a good deal on a blade. He suggested the 23 series Frontier. I may make some calls Monday and check on the price of the Land Pride. Although getting the Frontier delivered on the truck with the 5115M just sounds much simpler.

7 foot seems kind of narrow for a tractor of this size. Its probably close to 7 foot wide with the narrowest tire position. Angle the blade and you'd need at least 8 foot to cover the tires. I'm sure that any your looking at will have offset capabilities. Why not go wider say 8 or 9 foot horse power and weight wouldn't be a problem

With that tractor, I would go with the 24 series or the 45 series LP. Why are you asking about a 7 foot blade? You should be running an 8 footer at the minimum, I run a 9 footer with my tractor, an RBT45108. My machine weighs in at just over 12,000lbs.

I agree with you about the width also an 8' blade would be good. Been looking at the options on the blades and the 24 series does look better. It would be good to know that if I hook a rock it will take it. Going to use this to clear out a water way this summer when it is dry and there will be many rocks and things in there. Sounds like the Frontier is a good quality blade.

They are. I actually bought my Land Pride RBT45108 from our local JD dealer. Prices were just about the same for the LP or the Frontier unit, and green wasn't going to match my blue very well, so LP it was. I don't know if JD will sell you the blade with no adjusters or hydraulics, only found out that LP will after I had made the purchase.:( My next unit for my smaller tractor will be bought with no adjusters or hydraulics.

Anyway, I bring this up, because the manual adjusters are expensive, and if you go with after market cylinders, you can probably have all hydraulics for about the same cost as getting the blade with the manual adjusters. something to check on. ;)
