Just bought a used 2007 Frontier RC 1060 in very good condition to go behind my JD 3520. This is my third piece of Frontier equipment so it was time to get an iMatch QH to make life easier.

The local JD dealer sells an economy QH part # PMQH100. Its black and it looks just like the iMatch but it has an adjustable top hook which I thot would come in handy at times. I bought it.

I tried hooking to the RC1060 and the top link on the RC was too big like it was a Cat 2. The lower pins were fine. You can't down size the top link spacer because its made into the sliding strap piece.

There are a set of holes at the top of the hitch above the spacer to hook up without an iMatch so I just moved the Cat 2 spacer up there and will put a Cat 1 pin where it was. I haven't hooked it up yet.

Finally the question is will this cause any stress on the support brackets. The sliding piece still seems to work ok. Those with Frontier RC's will know what I'm talking about. Pics would have told the whole story but my computer doesn't like my card reader this morning.

Thanks

I forgot I had a picture of the cutter. Doesn't show the change I made but you can see what I'm talking about.

If you look at the top of the A-frame you'll see the Cat 2 spacer and the hole above it where I moved it to so I can put a Cat 1 pin in its place.

I had heard of one guy that twisted his A-frame on his Frontier RC and I didn't want that to happen to me.

I wouldn't think my change would effect it that much but I'm checking to see if you guys have any thoughts on it.

Thanks

A true John Deere iMatch quick hitch is actually sized for CAT 3. See attached pic. The hitch you bought sounds to be a standard CAT 1 quick hitch. Not saying this is bad, just dont confuse the two and call yours an iMatch. It is a quick hitch but not an iMatch quick hitch. You have a lot of non John Deere equipment so this is probably better for you anyhow.

I'm sitting in front of my computer and not looking at my RC2048 to confirm, but doesnt the bushing secure the support arms? If this is correct I would not relocate the iMatch bushing above and use a CAT 1 pin below. The pin would not secure the support arms here. I would replace the bushing, bolt and nut with one sized to fit your quick hitch so that the support arms remain locked at this stress point.

I don't know the brand of QH you have, but with the speeco QH you get a top link adaper and they work fine, I used a frontier rc 1060 for 2 yrs. and the top link adapter works just fine. there are lots of QH that work just as good if not better than the green one's.
You can also go to Speeco's website and look at the QH top link adapter and see what I am talking about.
hope this helps
