Fruit Trees - No Fruit this Year?

Yeah, folks were trying to compare this past winter with that one in 78..... no comparrison. Not even close. Yes it was cold and yes it snowed, but I think we had something like three feet in three days across a wide area of the country and a bunch of people died in 78.

I know we are on the other side of the world, but we didn't get any fruit this year because of a late frost. But I have a solution to your problems of not getting fruit/flowers.

Up in the Northeast.....

Last year I had a banner year and was giving apples away to friends. This year is altogether different and while the apples, peaches, and even a crabapple had good blossoms, the apple trees appear not have any fruit, the peaches are really sparse, and the crabapple doesn't seem to have anything. I had not seen much in the way of bees this for pollination this spring and in subsequent months and am wondering if this might be part of the problem, which is pretty bothersome if this is a trend. I had watched an eye opening documentary a while back about the diminishing bee population.
Wondering how everyone else is doing or if my lack of fruit is isolated instance. If you have bee hives it might be worth mentioning as a comparison to those like myself who don't.

Cold damage more than any lack of pollinators for us. The extremely long cold New England winter definitely had a negative effect on a lot of the fruit at the Orchard I work for...our peach crop is non existent and the plums are very thin this year. Apples are ok but a bit sparse nothing like the abundance of fruit last year. :(

We're a very small blueberry operation here in MI (around 325 mature bushes at present; adding more each year) but our crop is virtually nonexistant. While not happy about losing our crop this year we are counting our blessings as we've heard of a couple other operations where the entire bush died due to the harsh winter.

Our apple trees don't have any fruit on them either.

My apple trees seem to be about normal for fruit this year. Plums normal, didn't look at the pears. Peaches a little on the low side. Walnuts seem to be a bumper crop. Cherries normal but wormy. Fig tree setting fruit for the first time, I think there are two.

Worst I remember except the blizzard of 1978 is what I meant to say. This winter past wasn't a patch to '78. Wind chill this past winter much worse than that in '78.
