Fryer Oil storage

I have an option to get weekly drops of fryer oil from friend who runs a local bar. Oil would be in 5 gallon containers. Would have to look into the process of making fuel from the oil. If I started collecting it now how long can one store it before it is unuseable? It might be awhile before I can do anything with it and I do not want to have a stock pile of it that is of no use.

no scientific basis but it seems it would last a year or so no problem

if longer there are probably some things such as ascorbic acid or other things which i forget which would preserve it longer

look on bottles of commercial cooking oil to see what additives they use for preservation

Compared to diesel its organic.
Used cooking oil contains water microbes and food particles.
If you seperate and filter it then use a biocide you might have a shelf life of a few months.

It already contains everthing it needs to degrade, microbes, water, food.

No microbes in 400 degree used cooking oil, unless you let them in afterwards!!!

Where does the rancid odor, and layer of water and food particles come from?
Compared to diesel its easily degraded by microbes.

I'm sure you're right that microbes affect fryer oil more than diesel I just meant that the oil heated to a high temp kills anything living. After it cools down unless it's kept sealed/clean, anything could get in
