Oil & Fuel Fuel Additive

Today was the first day I really used my CK30fel/bh since I added Opti Lube
to the off road fuel. I have been using a different brand since I bought the CK30 new.The CK30 is a 2006 with 623 hours. I had the injector pump replaced under warranty with less than 400 hours on it. I know there is a lot of information out there on fuel additives,brand etc,and is there a benefit to using them. I have never had a problem starting it with one cycle of the glow plugs. All I will say is this.The engine seems to run quieter,smoother, and seems to have more power. Am I imagining this I don't know, but it seems to work.

Did you use Opti-Lube XPD? If so did you add Opti-Lube XPD at the rate of 0.5 ounce per gallon. They claim to increase the cetane points by (IIRC) 3. Based on the temperature you were running at and the cetane value of the fuel you were using one could expect some improvement in engine operation. I would expect the improvement to be a fairly small difference from the fuel additive alone that accurate test equipment would be required to confirm (power noise other). I am suspecting that your outside air temperatures were very cold today and possibly the cold dense air made the main difference. I am interested in others experience with Opti-Lube XPD as I have not used it.

I used Opti Lube XPD at the recommended rate of 0.5 oz per gallon of diesel fuel. The Kioti CK 30 holds just over 9 gallons of fuel (trying to remember) and this is how I calculated the amount to use. In the spring I will ad the correct amount to my 30 gallon storage tank. I use off road diesel fuel.

Cetane boost is certainly a good thing BUT providing increased lubricity is (IMHO) essential since the advent of the Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel Fuel mandate in the U.S. :confused2:
