Who knows if this would actually be beneficial, but I am curious enoughto try it!

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND
THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU TELL AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.
WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING
COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON
EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.
SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD NOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

This has been tried before and nothing was accomplished. If you want to hurt the petroleum industry, then sell the car and ride a bike to work. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

( Although it went into hiding for several years, the one-day "gas out" craze is back — and with it a reminder that protest schemes that don't cost the the participants any inconvenience, hardship, or money remain the most popular, despite their dubious effectiveness. A one-day "gas out" was proposed in 1999, and a three-day-long event was called for in 2000, but both drew little participation and had no effect on retail gasoline prices because they were based upon flawed premises. This year's version is no different. )

The boycott has never worked in the past and I don't think it will work in the future. Don't buy gas on the 19th so everybody goes out on the 18th and gets gas or the 20th. The one day does nothing. The oil companies want gas up to $2.00 a gallon or more so the trick is to get it up to $2.50 and then back it back down to $2.00 and then we as a consumer think it is ok. The only way we are going to lower fuel prices is to rely on our own sources. And yes it may mean drilling on our own land to do it. For the ones that are against drilling we can't have it both ways, we either learn to pay the high prices or we drill, or we could get the government to lower the gas tax in lieu of raising them.

Remember when gas was $.89 and shot up to about $1.39? Then shortly afterwords dropped back to $1.20 (on average). We were happy to see it at the $1.20 which was about a $.30 increase. That's how it works I guess /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. G

I am old enough and smart enough to realize that one days boycott doesn't do anything constructive. If you want to see oil prices drop, then we as a nation must stop using so much of it. The old fashioned "supply and demand" of pricing will always prevail. We send the Alaskan oil to Japan and import oil from Saudi Arabia, supposedly because it is cheaper than processing our own Alaskan oil. Personally, if the US were to put more of our resources into solving our energy crisis, we wouldn't have a crisis. We send "Aid" to countries that really don't deserve it and we also spend a great amount of our resources protecting countries that actually don't want us to be there. If the European countries were left to defend themselves entirely without our support, that would relieve a great burden on our military. The same goes for South Korea, Japan, and a lot of other places around the globe. If we are to be the worlds police force, the least that we could do is charge for the service to the countries that receive these services. Instead, we send these very same countries financial aid. Remember that charity starts at home. Hopefully some time in the future, our government leaders will realize that we can't be everything to everyone and start to reinvest in our country and not try to influence every thing that happens in other countries.

The only way it would work is if everyone stayed home or rode a bike (threw the bike in for Junkman /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif) for a day.

No offense intended towards you but you don't know what you are talking about. Last time I checked about 60 percent of the worlds known oil reserves are in the Middle East, Russia and few other places. Various oil companies buy the oil from them at the price set by those countries goverments. They transport them, refine them and then dsitribute them to you and then you blame them for their efforts. Basically since I was fairly high up in such a company once I can tell you that what you are saying is Baloney.
No, I want be participating in the boycott /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif but you could buy a smaller car or drive less--no oil company I know of forces people to buy their products in mass quanity. Good luck with the boycott. J

I'd suggest a TOTAL FUEL boycot of no less than SIX Mounths.

Lots of benefits involved.

Releive the anger management traffic jams create. People would get lots of exersise walking. No noisy planes, trains or cars.

Bare shelves at the grocery store. Farm fields reverting to their original state.

No loud blaring ambulance sirens. No police sirens. No traffic tickets.

Everyone with lots of spare time on their hands. Massive decline in weight challenged people.

Yes-- lets boycott--- We'll show em by gar ehh.
