Saw a statement that all tractors have constant speed governors. While that is an option on some of the larger machines it's not a standard and certainly on on every tractor. If that was the case the RPMs would remain constant as you went up hill, pushed the loader into a pile of dirt etc.

Remember folks that fuel consumption is not based on RPMs alone but also how much power the engine is delivering. The fuel delivered by the injectors varies as to engine load so it's power output and not speed alone which determines fuel consumption. This is true for gasoline as well as diesel engines.

Diesel part load fuel efficiency , particulaly non turbo's can drop below 1/2 of full power fuel efficiency.

He could be on a well and with no power you have no water to flush with. One of the reasons I added some storage tanks that can use gravity alone to supply some water to the house. Enough to flush toilets, take a navy shower run the dishwasher, wash some clothes etc.

Thanks Dick. We just keep a bucket of water to pour in the toilet during power failures. Air conditioning is the priority down here.
