I'm a new owner of a used (only 460 hrs) B2400 HSD. I'm trying to be the responsible owner and do the right preventative maintenance items and have a problem with the fuel filter. When I turned the pet cock to the off position and unscrewed the metal collar to release the bowl, fuel was running all over the place from the gas tank. Any thoughts on why the petcock isn't working?
Also, there was no filter in the bowl!! I hurriedly cleaned out the bowl and tossed in the new filter while being drowned by the diesel version of Niagra Falls. Under normal cirucmstances, should the filter be installed "hanging" on the upper part of the fuel bowl (metal part), or does it mate when the bowl is screwed on?
