What's the trick to getting the fuel filter changed on a 3510? I assume the ring at the top of the filter cartridge unscrews so that the filter element can be replaced.

I can't get the grey colored ring lossened with my fingers. Am I on the right track here? Not really sure how to get this done or if I have to I only have 55 hrs on the machine.

I used channel-locks. Not the best tool, I know but it worked with minimum scaring of the ring. Next time I'll use a small strap wrench. The main thing with the channel-locks is get a good grip right off the bat.

I think there is a 800 lb gorilla in Korea that does the initial tightening on these filters. Then he goes over to Cummins and does the initial tightening on the oil filter on the Cummins Turbo Diesel in the new Dodge pickups.

Channel locks is the trick, next time it will be much easier.

Like Dave said after the first removal it's all good. The strongest guy in Korea does the fuel filter install at Kukje. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
