This Post is kind of a continuation to an earlier post that got off topic real quick. The manual is unclear to me and I think the diagram (picture) might be wrong as well, so, I know where the fuel filter is, What next, please be specific? (not rediculously, just a step by step format if possible) Thanks, Tom

1. shut off fuel
2. take fuel bowl & locking collar off, be sure not to misplace the spring in the bottom of bowl.
3. swap out filters
4. install bowl and locking collar most of the way - leave slightly loose.
5. turn on fuel, when bowl is full of fuel, tighten locking collar.
6. crank engine over, I try not to start it(but cycle fuel pump)..... crack air bleed screw to get out remaining air.

Doesn't the DK45s have a spin on cartridge? no fuel bowl on this model, and you have the wire to disconnect.

Mainly just unplug wire... un screw fill and replace... I also think there is a shutoff.

Hi,
If you have a DK45S it has a cartridge filter(like the oil filter) It is on the right side(sitting on tractor) and unscrews like the oil filter. It is a good practice to fill the new filter with fuel before you screw it on so you don't have to pump as much fuel to fill the system again. Remember to turn your fuel off and then back onafter replacement.

OK,ok folks. I do appreciate all the replies, but I gotta admit, there seems to be a vast amount of different cartridge, bowls, shutoffs, turn ons, bleeders for air, and last of all priming pumps. I'm sure you all know how to change YOUR fuel filters, but few of you, if any know perfectly how to change mine. And what the heck is with the WIRE to unplug? I'll be danged if I can find one! I am going to try to perform this task this weekend and when I get her started again. I'll post pics with a step by step and maybe someone can benefit in the future.
That said, this is what I have.1 A replacement cartridge ( at $20) why clean anything? Is that even smart? 2 A bleeder valve (actually its a thumb screw on the filter ***'y) 3 A priming pump that stands "dead zero" on top of the filter ***'y.
This is my course.... Unscrew old filter, dispose of it, screw on new filter AFTER I have filled it with fuel, Open bleeder valve, press on priming valve until fuel exits both the bleeder screw and the overflow setup on the bottom of the new filter (i'll take one or the other if I have too). Then I'll try and start, when it fires up turn the rpm's a little high until all air is out of the system. Then i'll wash my hands...... TOM

oh yeah, Avatars are hard to downsize small enough to make it out! All I have is paint.net, which has worked well up to this point. My apologies, i'll change back to nothing when:mad: I get a chance....ticks me off

Sorry I was thinking of the DK55 tractors. They have a wire on the bottom of them.
