Oil & Fuel Fuel Filter Changes

I can't track down the manual for a Mahindra 6000, and need to change the fuel (diesel) filter(s). Braided fuel lines lead into and out of a black box on the left bottom of the engine, each with a nut, and there are two screws on the bottom of the box. There is no fuel shut-off switch. Is it as simple as unscrewing those two nuts, removing the cover with the braided lines, and replacing the filters?

Black Box??? Not sure what you mean here... How many hours on your 6000? You only change one fuel fifter at a time, starting with the rear most filter first. Bobg in VA

On the lower left front side of the engine housing is a sealed black housing - on the bottom are two bevelled cansiters (look like the float bowls in an older carb - sealed but rounded at the bottom), with two braided fuel lines, one coming in and one going out. Looks like if you unscrewed the nut securing the fuel line, you should be able to easily replace the filter.

Engine only has 550 hours. Looks like a manual is on order, but the dealer went bankrupt, and closest one is now 60 miles away.

Check out post further down; Manuals on line. Next to last post has phone number to order manual. Might be able to save 60 mile trip. I know I'm going to keep them in mind when I need something.

you should have a shutoff valve where the fuel line comes out of the tank, between the tank and the filters. this black box?? your not talking about the fuel control are you? you should have 2 fuel filters side by side that are almost as big as oil filters.
