Hey guys--- I've found this forum to be a GREAT help today while working on a friends BX2200.

One big problem while doing service on it--- for the life of me I cannot find the second fuel filter. I've looked from behind, underneath, etc.

I've literally spent the last hour trying to find it---- I've read it's near the fuel pump--- but I cannot find that either.

I have not removed the deck--- and really don't want to.

Can someone help???

THANKS!

You ain't gonna change it without pulling the deck.

You have to remove the engine cowl to access the second filter (assuming you found the one under the tractor right after the fuel tank). Oops - the deck is going to be in the way of the one under the tractor. kevinj has that right.

Just follow the fuel line back down from the injectors and you'll run across the two filters.

I also recommend rounding off the corners of the metal mounting brackets since it looks to me like they can penetrate the filters under vibration.

Thanks for the help--- just found it-- had to remove the mower deck--- which I HATE doing--- can never get it back on easily.

I can't get the front PTO to come off--- so had to separate the drive shaft-- which it never fun getting lined back up.....:confused2:

TERRIBLE place to put a fuel filter.

Can't get that front PTO to come off-- just won't snap off!

Thanks guys!

Sounds like the machine needs a bit of TLC. The PTO should come off very easy.

Are you pushing the release button or pulling the release collar to release the PTO shaft? It will have one or the other. It will not just pull out of the tractor without releasing it.

I hate changing that filter also, do yourself a favor and get a "Mr Funnel" and put every drop of fuel you add to your tractor through it. It will filter out water and debris, the fuel filter lasts a long time after I started using the MR Funnel.

Figured out a real easy way to get the deck back on.....

When removing-- just leave that quick-release PTO thing alone--- push the deck forward and let the drive shaft come apart.

It's difficult to line those two backup and put them back together as it can only go one way...

So.....

I simply removed the bolt that holds the shaft to the deck-- slips right off... then insert into PTO shaft, then slide deck back and slip unit back on-- put bolt back-- tighten--- and you're done!

I'm sure a pic would help you understand what I'm try to say......

Removing and installing the deck is kind of like learning the clutch in a manual car... the more you do it, the easier it gets, but it is a real hassle when you only do it occasionally. Also, that pto collar can get stuck on pretty badly if you never take it off. My deck goes on and off frequently, sometimes twice in one day, and the pto collar is always gooched up with plenty of grease, so it never sticks. Kinda messy, though :p
