I had the same thing happen to me and after taking it off and reinstalling it several times with a new o-ring, I discovered that there was a hariline crack in the bowl right at the lip of it. It was very hard to see and only leaked when the collar was tightened.

Order a new fuel bowl, oring, and filter. I was told that the original bowls shink over time. When u get a new one it will look a little different not quite as clear and softer... I am supprised if your tractor is running good? Make the switch and u be happy!

A new bowl and o-ring didn't fix my leak. You didn't say, but if you have fuel on top of the filter body, you might want to check the bleed valve.

The filter body on my 2220 had a spring loaded "push-button" bleed valve and overboard drain which was very convenient for bleeding the fuel lines, but the leak was around one of the seals in that. Ran across the top of the filter body, dripped down the bowl, and spotted the floor under the tractor similar to your description. But there was also fuel on top of the filter housing.

I finally stopped the leak by replacing the filter housing. Lost the push-button bleed convenience, but at least it doesn't leak anymore.

There's also one of those push-button/overboard drain bleeders at the fuel pump - but so far, it's not leaking.

Tom,
We have had a number of those spring loaded bleeders leak, and have not found a good way to repair them. We just replace the fuel bowl head with the version that has bleeder screws...it costs about $28.00 but is rebuildable and virtually never fails beyond repair.

Yeah, that's exactly what I did. The cost for the filter head wasn't enough to put me in bankrupcy court, but if/when the one on the fuel pump follows suit, I may be looking for some diesel proof duct tape.

There will be two....Just above the fuel bowl assembly - one on the fuel tank inlet side and the other (about 2" to it's right) on the way to the fuel injection pump. They are 10mm hex head (centered with Phillips screw) and there should be another (third one) centered at the banjo fitting on your injection pump.

They are easy to find. If I can change my bowl and filter, you can do it too. Mine bled out and started right up easy. In fact, that was a lot easier than getting the stripped drain plug on the right side of my front axle off to change the gear oil.

thanksfor the pic that was great , now do I loosen both the screws and let the bowel fill up until full ,is that correct?sorry for the stupid questions ,think mine his 2 small screws at the top and a bigger hex to the right side .

That's one way. I just fill up the bowl when I change the filter to save time.

...... .
Harry.

Do them one at a time...and do as buppy69 states, fill the bowl with fuel and reassemble.

The systems is designed to purge any/all air trapped in the fuel lines. Start at the left 10 mm bleeder screw and allow the fuel to drip (for several seconds) which eliminates (bubbles) air, and retighten (just snug). Go to and do the same with the right 10 mm bleeder screw. Do the 10 mm bleeder screw on the banjo fitting on your injector pump last.

It is not necessary and does not help to 'crack open' injector lines or other fittings to bleed the system and often detrimental to do so, as it creates areas to allow air back into your fuel delivery system.

Just follow the fuel line with your finger to the injector pump....to the front of your tractor. When you finger hits the fitting (banjo) there is another 10 mm bleeder screw on the top (of the fitting).
